World Agri Tourism Day 2026 will be observed worldwide under the theme “Women Farmers Leading Agri Tourism and Sustainable Rural Economies Globally”, in alignment with the recognition of 2026 as the International Women Farmer Year.
This theme acknowledges the pivotal role of women farmers as innovators, entrepreneurs, hosts, custodians of rural culture, and drivers of sustainable livelihoods through agri tourism. Across continents, women farmers are transforming farms into experiential destinations—creating diversified incomes, strengthening local economies, preserving heritage, and promoting responsible tourism.
Agri tourism has emerged as a powerful tool for women-led rural development, enabling economic empowerment, skill development, climate resilience, and community-based enterprise. By placing women farmers at the center of agri tourism, this theme highlights inclusive growth, gender equity, and sustainable rural economies that benefit farming families and rural communities worldwide.
World Agri Tourism Day 2026 calls upon governments, international organizations, farmer groups, tourism stakeholders, academia, and civil society to recognize, support, and scale women-led agri tourism initiatives. The celebration aims to inspire policy action, global collaboration, knowledge sharing, and investment in women farmers as leaders of sustainable rural transformation.
Through this global observance, the agri tourism movement reaffirms its commitment to empowering women farmers, strengthening rural economies, and building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable futures for agriculture and tourism worldwide.

Indian Farmers in village are engaged in farming activity throughout the year. Their income from farm produce depends on good monsoon, good harvest and good marketing. It is experienced that the income from agriculture is only once or twice in the year, but the expenses are on weekly basis, it is very difficult for the farmer to sustain throughout the year, since the income is not sufficient. To make farming sustainable and feasible there was an urgent need for some experiments in addition to traditional farming, after two years of consistent research and studies, we concluded that adding Tourism to agriculture is one such experiment that will generate weekly income which can compensate weekly expenses of the farm.

Together we aim to build capacity for farmers and agritourism stakeholders worldwide and promote practices that sustain the natural environment, local cultures, and social and economic wellbeing of rural communities.
